  • The AstroDay Festival is returning to Hilo at the Prince Kuhio Plaza. The organizers of this event feel that educators here on Hawai'i island are unsung heroes in the classroom. Therefore, the AstroDay Excellence in Teaching award seeks to recognize Hawaii Island elementary, middle and high school teachers and college professors whose creativity, enthusiasm and dedication engage students in science curricula in exciting and meaningful ways. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, April 11, 2008, after which the AstroDay Institute Board of Directors will select this year's recipient. The award will be presented during the AstroDay Festival by officers of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce and Japanese Chamber of Commerce. Along with the award presentation, the recipient and school will receive a special prize, so we are hoping you will take the time to help us recognize your star science educator!
